Is there any proof or news where it is said that google penalizes .info domain. The domain names which I'm targeting, all of .com .net .org has been taken. What should I do? Should i go for .us or .biz
.us ? only if it is a website for us .info ... why not if you haven't the choice what it the domain name ? add a letter to having .com ?
If I were you I would pick a different .com name. info names are not penalized by Google they are treated just like any other domain.
IMO, No domain is penalized untill Google observers it spamming over the period of time. As the spammers have been using .info domains, it might take a bit longer to gain credibility in Google' eyes over .com or other TLDs but after gaining few quality backlinks .info will also be treated like any other domain. But if you still have a choice then better go for .com domains, not because of SEO issues but few visitors even may look at your site to be low in quality and trust. Hope it helps
Of course, .us or .biz is useful for .info if you have an e-commerce site, IMO. But Google would not punish .info domains generally. Have a nice day,
Info domain names are newer so they have less links and have been around less time. This is same for all domain names. Remeber to register any domain name for more than a year google does not like ones registered for only a year they think site will not be around long.
Don't Worry. these are only speculations. I'm using sch domains I have no problems - in SEO, with Google and so on.
Don’t you just hate it when you waste time and money on something only to have the rug pulled out from under your feet for no apparent reason? That’s how millions of legitimate .info domain owners feel about Google’s treatment of .info domains.
In March 2008 Google guru Matt Cutts made the following prediction on his personal blog: Since this prediction was made, .info domains have often been available for a mere $0.99. In May 2008, many holders of previously well-ranked .info domains found their pages suddenly purged from Google's search results. Since that time, .info domains with similar quality content as other TLD's statistically do not rank as well in search results. That Google has a bias against .info domains would now seem obvious, although just how severe that bias is remains in debate. Regardless, if your first concern is to optimize your site for SEO, avoiding the penalty inherent to a .info domain would seem advisable. Best success, Neil
I have noticed people with a .info extension don't rank as well but it's still better than a .us or .biz domain. Can't you add a word or something to your desired domain to get a .com?
ok....you need to add some word together,so that you can still used that .com because that is the most popular domain Extension in the wordwide
I use .info's all the time. I have yet to see a difference as far as google as concerned when it comes to .info domains. However if you are trying to "brand" something then using a .com will serve you better as these are easier to remember. Just my .2 cents! CPH198
.info domains are decent. If you plan on having it for more then one year, you might as well buy a .com domain
I don't think Google penalizes .info domains. Why not prefix or suffix and get a good .com domain? It's not a rule that you should get keyword as a domain. You could look for extensions.
Always go for easy to remember domain names. People'll have a natural tendency to go for a .com rather than , say a .biz or .info Regards, blog.autumn.co.in
