Because .info domains are cheap to use, I also use sometimes .info domains for my own websites.
On the other hand, there is nothing bad using info domains.

I don't see the risk in spending $10 for a ".com", most of use spend that at the local corner store on any given occasion.

".com"'s are just more trusted, and more recognized. I'm not saying there is validity to the way the people feel about them, but part of marketing (most of it) is getting inside the minds of consumers (the public) and just because you can come up with 90 reasons why ".info" is a viable extension on paper, and I can even agree with you...it still won't change perceptions...and part of marketing is perception.

I also don't sub comb to the notion of registering a domain just because I can find two words that make since separately, but not together.

I don't register reverse phrases, or out of context plurals.

If you sit in front the search on a registrar long enough looking for stuff, you can talk yourself into a bunch of gibberish domains that make sense in a vacuum, but not in the real search and branding world.

Since that is the reality of the domain availability to day...If I can't get something that makes sense to everyone...not just me after an hour logged to the the registrar, then it is a waste of time and money.

I also go into every project 100%. Very few times do I put up a website or blog with minimal expectations, so the whole "only spending $1.99 to so it's not much of a risk" is not the way I do business, and it bothers me that others are this timid, with such a lack of confidence, yet still expect to make money online.

.INFOs have their role - I own a few INFO domains, and actually (would you believe it :) ) I use them to provide information , thus gaining page rank and using them to drive traffic to my main sites. As they do not "look" commercial, and I do not sell anything on the INFO sites themselves, it's actually a good sales strategy.

IMHO the price is not so important because we're only talking 4-5 bucks difference with a com site, unless you want to buy a few hundreds, use them to send spam and then drop them - but that will happen with ANY low-cost domain! For a quality name I will however not hesitate to put a few dollars more on the table, info or not...

Buddy I agree with you. As you know that, the internet is getting domain name rush, day by day. No one is caring that what they actually need. Let me tell you just one thing. There are about 57000+ combinations of 3 characters like a,b,c and 1,2,3 respectively and will you believe that there is no 3 character domain name ???????? Because people are now registering domain names just for making money through them. So, it doesn't depend that what is the extension ??????? It depends upon the domain name actually :)
