I am intrested in buying a few .info domains, but i dont seem to be able to find any well ranked .info domains on google. Does google not like .info domains ? Does anyone have some examples of highly ranked .info domains ?
ranking has nothing to do with the extension. Ranking is all about content and backlinks regardless of the extension. Most well ranked sites will be .com or .net but that is only because those tlds have been around a lot longer. Here is one http://www.spain.info/ it ranks #2 out of 384,000,000 for keyword Spain
I agree with kentuckyslone, there is nothing to worry about the extension, If you consider the Google Page rank then review webhosting.info. It has PR of 6 out of 10.
a quick historical article on the speed in which .info sites took off, http://www.computerworld.com/developmenttopics/websitemgmt/story/0,10801,76008,00.html
I often see .info sites on the first page of Google when I search but it is usually a .com that gets to the top. So they do rank but many of the .com's have more age & popularity behind them.
Domain extension does not lower or raise your site in Google's eyes. An .info has as much of a chance of ranking as a .com provided effort is put in.
