I am thinking of buying 10 domain names and still haven't decided if they will be .com or .info. I incline to buy .info because they are cheaper, but I am afraid they are not as strong as a .com for Google. So, anyone knows why .info domains are about 5-6$ cheaper? Does Google prefer .com to .info? Thanks.
Recently all the sales on .info have led a lot of spammers and MFA sites to move to .info. The trust weighting for .info has become very low for new .info sites because of this. If you want to create real sites and content, go with .com or .net, or .uk etc. One of the reasons .info is cheaper is the registrar is they want to increase its popularity, hence, lower fees to the retail registrars like Gd, and they may pass that savings on to their customers.
I don't think Google will care which you use. Your visitors might, but that's another thing. Google does look at the URL, when matching for keywords, so if you are targeting keyphrases with info ('webmaster info' or 'Ferrari info'), I'd actually say you might be better of with a .info domain.
I've purchased hundreds of .info domain names, and I haven't had any difficulty optimizing them. In some instances it's even easier because the availability of good domain names is still there and you can get a URL with your keywords in the name.
Because .com is prepared to use by the searchers unlike .info.. .com is also has its trademark and already recognized by the people/searchers andwebmasters unlike the .info.. But this has nothing to be worry about.. I think that's the biggest mistake when buying and comparing the domain names .. I guess what matters is that on how you will going to use it having a quality content and how you optimized your page for it to get ranked regardless of what kind of domain name you will going to use..
Search engines are really indifferent to your tld... it can be not only .info, but whatever else (.ws, .tv...) everything depends on your seo, content, link buildings, etc... you can save some bucks on info domain, but on the other side, remember, if you are serious about your website, next year, you will have to renew domain name and the price will be same for .info and .com... you have to choose yourself
i want to say that google will hate u if u have .info domains cuz of the amount of threads i saw like this lol but ur tld doesnt matter as doomm said, if it did, u'd have noticed all 30 char .com domains would be taken and be very rare lol
I know several keywords where a .info is ranked number 1 over a .com. There isnt too much diffference in content and links so it seems to suggest google treats domains equally. As a web user though something doesnt seem right about a .info and i would click a .com first.
again its not about the domains TLDs that affect the serps, its about how well the webmaster develops the domain in backlinks and other seo methods and as a web user, something is wrong with you for saying something doesnt seem right about a .info lol, its basically the same thing with a different ending what you said is like saying that mcdonalds is better than the mcdonalds 2 blocks from it even though they are the same thing and offer the same things lol - bad analogy lol but thats how it works.
Nope it doesnt matter to Google what extension what you have. What matters is the content, keywords et cetera. I have several .info's and Googlebot just loved them and the overture on the words in your domain would be vital in matching the content of your site. Such as, lets say: Moviestunts.info affiliatearticles.info articles-base.info Can I say the overture on the articles-base is great and Google is just like ga ga over it. The results of Google visiting the site is great.
I have to say that it might be just coincedence or just the domain but I do notice that dot coms seen to get better traffic instantly and rankings in google than any other extension. In saying that though, I do have many .info's & I have never had a problem with Google indexing & ranking them, in fact many do really well.
Before I started this thread, I did a search on 'info domains' on DP, but couldn't find anything useful in the first 5 pages returned. I'm sorry if it's a common topic, but I needed to know this since buying .info domains will save me about 50$-60$. I also fear that many info domains are used for spamming purposes, and although Google doesn't penalize them now, it might in the future.
there is no difference between a com domain and an info domain. both are the same domains for the search engines. their power is only related with the backlinks, not the their extensions
I've decided, although this year I could have saved some $$$ buying .info domains, the next years will be the same price for them, so on the long run, it will be worth buying the .coms, as they are easier to remember and look more professional. Thanks for helping, guys!
there is NO different between any domain extensions, all what is count is your seo works and backlinks.
