.info domain will become hot now

US homeland security have started seizing many famous .com domains for silly violation like having a link to another website which has got unauthorized material ,etc.
People will be forced to move away from .com as their domain can be seized in a day without notice.

I don't get it, what makes the US have such authority to close normal sites down?
And why is the US authority only limited to .com domains, and not .info or .net ?

so if people are going to move away from .coms (which i doubt) why would they move to .info? why not .net or any other extension?

I think his logic is that .info domains are cheaper and therefore there is less risk of financial loss if the domain is seized

Not quite, if a popular .com domain gets seized by US , the website owner has to move to other .tld , US does not have any control over .info domain.

The .com are handled by VeriSign where .info's are handled by Afilias, an Irish company which has offices in the US. Ultimately they both answer to ICANN, which is under US control and within the reach of the Government. I believe it will only be a matter of time before they will shut down/seize the .info's.

It'd be nice if people would research (and support their argument with citation) before making wild claims they don't understand.
