Rules Info Change: New BST Thread Allowed?

Figured I'd create a thread here rather than risk an infraction, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. :)

I created a BST thread a while back advertising my writing services. I've made some changes to the services I offer (removing one service and revising the details of a special offer I had going), as well as my contact info. I could be wrong, but I didn't see an "edit" option to make these changes.

Am I allowed to create a new thread, in light of the fact that it isn't going to be identical to my first thread?

Hope that made sense. Thanks! :D

You could always try your luck and ask a mod to edit the thread for you :D

To get more exposure to the thread (considering it'll probably quite a few pages down), I'd reccommend linking the advert in your signature to it.

You can edit your thread upto 8 hours only.

You can't create duplicate thread for the same service with few changes.

    DON.

Hmm... so that's a bit of a problem! It's been over a month since I started the thread.

And it's not the same service with a few changes -- I added one totally new service (and might add more in the next week or so), removed one service, revamped my pricing, and changed my contact info. :) Since it isn't the same, am I safe to start a thread, then?

If you plan to add more in the next week or so, and they really are new services, I suggest waiting until you're sure about the rest of your changes. Then request the original be closed (and include your reason, such as the actual service changes -- you might even want to include a link to this thread in case the mod reviewing the request hasn't seen it). If they say the reasons you give are significant enough to warrant a new thread, they'll close the old one and you can start a new one. Just make sure they're really different and not just price changes and such. But don't start a new one expecting to be allowed to start another when you want to make more changes in a week or so.

Great, thanks for the clarifications. I'll definitely wait until I have my service list finalized and follow your advice about the actual thread when it's time to start it. How do I request the thread be closed?

Use the report button in the top right hand corner of the original post in the thread ( [IMG])

sell writing service and when you find a buyer from that thread, close that thread & start a new one. I don't think that would go against the rules, but re-check yourself. (the reason why I don't know is because there might be different rules for services that don't end, and products which end).

This is an intriguing possibility. Since I am seeking longterm clients, I'd like to know if it would it be okay if I did this: I'd start a thread something like, "Writer seeks long-term article client" with my rates, etc. When I find one to fill the holes in my schedule, I request the thread be closed, and then when one leaves or drops off the radar and a spot reopens, I create a new thread? It wouldn't be every day, since I'm specifically seeking long-term relationships with new clients.

Or... would it be a rule violation if I created threads for different services? Say, one each for my article, ebook, and blog posting services?

Just trying to get a feel for what options I have (if any). :D

My opinion is that you're entering dangerous territory trying to find holes in the rules. The truth is that although it's not great that your thread isn't at the top of the list as much as you'd like it to be, it's the same for everyone else and therefore your exposure isn't affected as much as you probably think.

I advise that you follow my suggestion of linking to your sales thread in your signature, as well as searching for people who posting 'Want to Buy' threads that you can satisfy and respond to them, because as it turns out people are lazy and want people to find them rather than vica-versa :D. Along the same lines of the signature link, you can also use your avatar space to advertise (if you need an avatar advertising content writing services to be made, then PM me and I'll make one for free).

Hope this helps, good luck :).
