I spotted a domain for sale and filled in a form on the website. I received an email back asking for the following information to transfer the domain name. Does someone need all of this information to do the transfer (I was thinking just the account name would be needed)? The email said:

Please make payment to [an email addr].
In order to transfer the domain we also need your godaddy.com account
    details:
    1. Name
    2. Surname
    3. Address and post code
    4. Phone number
    5. E-mail.
The domain will be transfered to your account immidiately after receiving
    the payment.

Yep, all of that is required on godaddy. Namecheap (I think) just needs the account username, but godaddy uses the whole whois.

That's what is required for Godaddy, but in reality all that is needed is your email address & the person can make up the other details. You'll receive an email from Godaddy to accept the transfer of the name

    namecheap
I don't have to pay for privacy and it's soo easy to maintain / buy domains

godaddy was getting worse by the day for me, but not being able to pay via paypal done it for me (Idk why it wouldn't let me, it kept telling me I didn't have enough in my paypal even though I had like £300 in it at the time)

I lost a good domain because of it, so I was really mad at godaddy at the time

drig, htmlindex, orangegreen & meth - thanks for all you input

well, after drig answer, I went for it - it was a guy from Ukraine (so i was 1/2 sceptical) - all went thro ok - paid via PayPal - he initiated the transfer immediately - i changed all details to me and 12 hrs later its all done with!!!!!

Also, PayPal themselves called about 6hrs after the transaction asking if I'd done a transaction for £xxx - I said 'yes' and they asked what it was for - I said 'domain name' and they said "fine & thanks" - so I was pleased all round.
