ranking shouldn't be a problem for any domain extension. I know there are a lot of debate on this but as far as from my personal experience, i have sites rank well in many different extension from .com, .net., .org, .my, and recently .info niche site. most importantly build up the backlinks to your site.

.info domains can rank very good. Is more important you content, your link building campaign and your site optimization.
Also .info domains are very cheap for the first year.

Yup! .info is also considered as TLD but due to inefficiency by name! mostly people feels spam and useless however every newbie starts with .info because of cheapness! However i personally experienced .infos can also be topped well if you have better knowledge of SEO

You won't see any difference for rankings, but you may have some (very minor) issues with people not liking the fact that it's not a .com or .org

I agree with all of them. Dot Info wont affect ranking, but it will be a problem if you have made it popular and try selling it. The price you will be getting will be a lot lower than a dot com.

All these common domain extension has an exact similar potential in every SEO perspective for global like Google.com - com / net / biz / org / info

All these specific domain extension will have positive effect in SEO for specific country and not global - .co.uk (UK) / .co.jp (Japan) / .hu (Hungary / .com.kh (Hong Kong)

No matter what anyone tells you, .info domains are much harder to rank. Search engines consider the .info TLD as a spammy TLD. The .info domains are the cheapest domains out there (cost less then $1) yet when was the last time you saw a .info domain rank #1-10 on google for a good keyword? Stay away from them.

You can rank info extension as good as any other, you do not get any special treatment just because you have .com you still have to work on SEO as anybody else. Also search engines do not penalize you because some people use some domain for spamming purposes, Every domain is on its own. Info domains are becoming very popular very fast and good info domain is as hard to find as good .com domain. And from price point of view, if you register brand new domain then they are all cheap apart from some exceptions like .vc .fm .io

I have quite many info domain waiting to be developed as info extension is perfect for informational website. I did register brand new info domain about 8 months ago ( securityindustry.info ) and I have not even developed it yet but I have already received many offers for it and the best one has been 4k so far.

So if you are planning to have informational website then what more perfect domain extension you can have than .info

This mean no offense to you. Have you ever experienced do SEO for .info domain yourself? Or you just said from what you have read. Could you please fine me a link to some website that has proven test on the .info domain and negative effect towards SEO? I never heard nor saw it neither. I have experienced doing SEO for some .info websites I owned. I can get them rank in medium competitive keyword without a problem. However, I will not disclose the website name nor the keyword here neither. That is my privacy.

Again, this is not an offense but I do not want the unsure information being spreaded unless some proven on it first.

I agree with DannyBoy. I have pretty much never seen an .info domain on reasonable SERP's.

Yes they can rank well. No such. Google clearly said it considered all extensions equally.

Whatever domain extension you decide to choose and build a website on, then once you change the domain name you will loose all that hard work you have done building your links.

They can definitely rank well. The .info and .biz and other less-used domains can and will rank equally as well as .com domains if you apply the same SEO and backlinking techniques to them. The only thing is how people view them, and if you're looking to build an established brand or site to sell some products, then some people might discount a domain like .info and probably not view it as favorably as a .com

On the other hand, if all you're doing is creating a presell page or squeeze page or something along those lines, then a .info will work perfectly fine.
