Recently we had an issue which caused our organic traffic to literally vanish overnight. We're were make numerous alterations in a hope to find out what was causing this and eventually after no results, we realised that the day after we took a single product off our site our traffic dropped. We did not have this product in stock any more but we decided to put it back on the site to see if it made a difference. Withing 24 hours of doing doing so our traffic shot back up. However the traffic was across the board and not directly to that page. Including back on the site causes the listings for all pages and keywords to rocket again. Does anyone know if there is a way to determine the individual importance of single pages on the grand scheme of your websites position within various search terms?
that is very interesting I do know that linking out to authority sites can often have an overall positive impact on the entire site. Any outgoing links from it? Perhaps some sort of "related" keyword in the ad that is scarce elsewhere on the site? It seems like you are on the edge and that product counters the weight in your favor. Pretty cool. Let us know if you figure it out...
Not really. The only thing i can think is that the page specifically is for the cheapest product on our site. So many Google applies importance to it due to higher traffic? This would be from a number of sources: - From search engines - From users on the site directly navigating to it more than other products - From google base The interesting thing obviously is the fact that a single page from over 200 can impact the whole traffic of a site by so much. If i was able to get some sort of Google score for individual pages I'd be able to draw up some sort of analysis for what makes pages that give high ranks to a site in general. Any clues?
