What have been your most successful long-term marketing techniques? I have tried many marketing techniques.. Many of which failed.. But I have had a few work quite well... 1. The best move that I have ever made was creating a FREE knol on knol.google.com on the day that google released the beta.. By jumping aboard so soon I was able to write the first google knol on web hosting. Since I created the first knol on web hosting, I am also listed first when you search for web hosting on google knol search.. This has literally sent tuns of traffic to my site.. This is a relatively new service and just like anything, those who get the most out of it will be those who jump aboard early. 2. I paid a guy $35 to submit my site to 135 popular social bookmarking sites such as digg... So far... I have had a lot of success. 3. A lot of people frown on free web traffic sites.. And honestly many of them stink... However, I have actually had $360 worth of leads because of linkreferral.com... Free service or not.. $360 is $360.. haha.. 4. I have joined this forum and another forum and have tried to participate and write quality posts without spamming... People have seemed very receptive and I have seen a lot of new visitors to my site from those just clicking on my signature. These are a few of my most successful marketing techniques.. I do not have a lot of money to pay for marketing but being creative can sure work wonders... What are you most successful marketing techniques?
My best marketing tips (on the web) is to perform keyword analysis to find the right words and implement a SEO strategy. This gives me the longtail traffic that I'm looking for. By beeing in the top 10 list for your most relevant keywords/phrases is important. Together with good landingpages and smart call-to-action planning this is my best tip.
Thank you SOOOOO much for the knol tip, article marketing has laways served me well, yahoo answers has sent me a tonne of traffic but these people are always looking for free info, so they don't usually convert. Also youtube and blogs have brung in some traffic.
In my case article marketing, blogging combined with social bookmarking, and forum marketing have been my three best long term strategies for getting traffic on a consistent basis. I use all three of these with an emphasis on search engine optimization, and this has given me the thousands of back links and got me on page 1 google for hundreds of unique keywords.
I agree with Jeff's techniques, though one new method that has worked well for me recently is submitting quality branded videos with my site name to video engines. Practically everyone has video now, and in many niches people prefer watching and learning from videos than reading text via books. ]
