Trust me.. I have seen them.. Yes they are unable to read/understand English. but They still surf and download the MMS, once taught 'Know hows' by one of their friends.. I personally know few of this kind of guys. It doesn't take a genius to go and download clips from sites like desi torrents and debonair blog once they know the site they go, surf and download the clips. They dont need google to search

I said "most". Not "only upper class". Now since "The Webmaster" pulled in caste let me think about it too. Caste, class, religion and community are an intrinsic part of Indian culture. Even today, if any body in rural India try to date or marry some one of a different Caste/class/religion/community he/she is looking for trouble. He/she could be harassed/beaten up/killed for it. In cities it is a lot better now. Then this is not a problem only in India. I remember reading about a case in USA where the white parents tried a forced abortion on their daughter for dating a black guy. Only difference is what happens in US would be like only less than 1% of what happens in India.
Yes. Caste in India is a big problem socially.. The thing is Politicians do not want to put an end on this problem, they want to keep it alive as it drives the vote bank.. One of my friends hails from a well educated family and he loves a girl that belongs to another caste (lower than his). His parents are not ready to accept this relation at any cost. Which is making the life hard for him...
in IT , Doctors and like this well educated new generation don't believe in cast in India but their parents are driving them to cast system who don't have education.
This is true. Only in India would you probably see "matrimonial" ads in the classifieds sections of newspapers where people advertise looking for prospective spouses based on caste & subcaste.

i think yes , Hinduism only has this worst thoughts ... in other religion other type of cast system is going but they don't have problems with marriage proposal.
The most common and known caste system is in hinduism namely, Brahmins-priest class, kashatriyas-warrior class, Vaishya and Shudra-lower class. At the same time you will find similar features of these in Christians and Muslims too. Most catholics/christians will marry some body from the same community(which is similar to caste) like latin, syrian etc. Even in matrimonials in US you will find race/religion based advertisements. You cannot call them caste, but they have some similar properties. But if some body goes out of their community/race and dates/marries someone of a different community/race nobody looks down on them that much. And in 99% of the cases there is no risk of any physical harm ship or attacks.
I think the comparison you are drawing is an attempt to play down the caste system in India. When in my opinion, the caste system in India is on a level that most people, in the US at least, would have a difficult time understanding. That is not based on traveling there, just from what I have studied so I could be easily be wrong. With the exception of the LTTE of course! I don't have anything against India and it is high on my list of places to visit. I'm sure I will learn more about the caste system during my visit. Unfortunately, I have only had the pleasure to visit your island neighbor Sri Lanka. If the people of Sri Lanka are anything like the people of India I am sure I will enjoy my visit. The people I met in Sri Lanka were some of the most hospitable people I have met.
In my World Religion classes in college they made it sound so simple I can't wait to go to India, my Dad has already been there for crying out loud!

i am not Christian i was born in Hindu family ( Vishwakarma Brahmin ) i don't believe this worst religion because its separated people with cast system , BTW why Christians are thinking like Hindu cast system ? simple reason because they migrated from Hindu or they are living between Hindus.
