Indians Come Here: How can I get Indian Citizenship?

I need to move my parents to India. I am originally from Sri Lanka and I am a Tamilan. But me and my parents live in Canada and Canadian citizens. My parents don't like the cold.

I am thinking of moving my parents to Tamil Nadu. My parents can't go back to my Sri Lanka.

Any idea how I can get my Indian citizenship?(I heard lot of Sri Lankan Tamils are living in Tamil Nadu, but do they eventually get their Indian citizenship, or do they treated like reguees in the camps, like Tibetans? )

If I marry an Good Looking Indian girl ;), can I become an Indian citizen?

I know lot of Pakistanis come to India on a 6 month visa and disappear into India.

    Can someone advice?

I was born in Sri Lanka and my parents are born in Sri Lanka. My grand parents from mom side are from Singapore and dad's side are from Sri Lanka. All my grand parents are passed away and my mom doesn't have any proof that my grand dad is from Singapore. We didn't take much when we left Sri Lanka. So Singapore is out of question. So India is what I am looking at right now. Beside it is very close to Sri Lanka.

Ok, here is how tamil people normally get out of sri lanka.

As you live in Canada, you can possibly go back to Sri Lanka.

As Sri Lankans and Tamil's are having war, tell them that your life is too unsecure and you live dark nights everyday. This will make them depot you to India.

    Another way:-
As you all are born in Sri Lanka, you are the citizens of Sri Lanka. Take a visa to India and then tell them that you cannot go back to sri lanka as your life is not safe there. As in speaking, you have dual citizenship of both Sri Lanka and Canada. They might tell you to go back to Canada but if not then you can stay in India.

I would rather concern a Solicitor rather than wasting time about legal issues in Digitalpoint. People studing law dont visit Digitalpoint as they have better things to do.. :p

Not really, India's law doesnt say that if you marry a girl who is Indian would make the husband Indian. Actually it is other way round. If the husband is Indian, the wife can get a citizenship of India.

(well i dunno the whole law book, but until i remember, it was like that)

It actually doesnt matter what cast or race are you. India accepts everyone provided you are hard working. Anyone can survive there if you have a light of hope. Good that you never planned to come to Mumbai directly, you would probably get yourself injured by the hopes you might have made.

They live a normal life, just like any other Tamil. There is no discrimination or anything like that. 2- 3% population of Tamil is made up of Sri lankans. Usually only Sri lankan Tamils used to come to Tn as refugees but now even native Sri lankans are coming to Tn.

I was in India, mainly New Delhi on 6 months visa at my Indian friend house.
I have read it before and now. This seems complicated way to do it. Link breaks it down by:
What about couple of crores under the table :)?

Do they eventually become Indian citizen? I spoke to a Indian guy in Toronto, from India. He told me Tibetans are frustrated with Indian government because they never get Indian citizenship.

Many Tibetans from India are coming to Toronto. I have met many Tibetans from India living in Toronto, because they were speaking Hindi and didn't look like regular Indians.

As far as i know in the long run, yes they become Indian citizens. Muttaih muralidharan married a Tamil girl. (Obviously he did not apply for indian citizenship). Parents of bride will have no apprehensions with their daughter marrying a Sri Lankan provided you will be settling in India.
If you have any questions i will help as far as possible.:)

I think Muralidharan is got married and took the bride to Sri Lanka. His case is different, everyone knows him. Besides he has lot of money to live comfortably in Sinhalese side of Sri Lanka. I am just a nobody.

Now, I know money talks. Would couple of crores under the table get you genuine documents from government officials :)? My friend from Chennai told me he got his license because a government officer knew his father.

Ok dude i will ask a Sri lankan family who lives here and tell you what you can do. I read your first question once again. If i am right you went to Srilanka from Tn generations ago, which makes you a Srilankan Tamil. Do you have some more questions. If yes post here are pm me. Tell whatever details you think you should say.

Yes, some are still in refugee camps for years. They started coming here decades back.
Some are out of the camp and live normal lives, but as far as I know, none have been given citizenship officially so far. I know a srilankan Tamil who did Engineering in Regional Engineering College trichy in refugee quota.

For you other question of marrying an Indian girl to become citizen, I dont know.

Recently I saw a TV program (Ippadikku Rose) where they discussed the life in refugee camp. Having lived in Canada, I don't think you will like life in refugee camp in Tamil nadu.

Jallikattu, that is necessarily not true. The Srilankan Tamils are aborigines of Srilanka. Those who went generations ago to srilanka mostly work in tea estates and are called "Malaiyaga thamizharkal".

Yes, you have heard right fro pakistanis. This is the falw of the system. Anyway it's a flexible country and you can get the citizenship over there. Better way to consult embassy.
