In recent days US$ is decreasing rapidly as compared with Indian Rupee. It came to almost 40 from around 46. Aren't you worried about it? Did you increase your prices to overcome the situation? Lets hope that this will be a temporary phase.

You're lucky the dollar is worth so much to you as an Indian as it is.

Try living in the UK - need at least $3,000/month just to survive!

We're in similar situations though. Our earnings are decreasing on the £ as the dollar continues to plummet.

Well guess the Indian Rupee and UK currency is getting stronger.

It gives you an opportunity to split test your products at a higher price ;)...

More like the economy is forcing you to do it :p

Ha, yeah. The upside is that advertising on Adwords etc is getting cheaper.

I cannot be bothered to work out the formula as to whether the cheaper cost in advertising would make up for the loss in sales though. :)

The USD has been falling against CDN for quite some time now, I'm not too worried about it as I keep all of my funds in Canadian dollars :) Although for the rupee... not sure..

I am service provider.I get paid certain rate for the work. So decrease in USD value leads to decrease the value of money which I am getting. The decrease is almost 20% so it really makes difference.

Well, it is not just the Indian Rupees but generally speaking the US Dollar is weakening across the board and it has been like that for several years now.

Generally speaking it makes your fellow citizens spending power goes up and US products in theory would seems to be cheaper now that the US dollar has weaken.

In the world of international trade and foreign exchanges such currency fluctuation is part and parcel of doing business. There is nothing really much you can do about it.

But think about it another way, for your non-US customers, your products and services would seems cheaper and that may in turn fuel more customers and thus more sales and that will inevitably help you instead.

If you can, spend the US Dollars earnings on US Dollars-demoninated services such as perhaps your web hosting cost and others then just remit what you need for your living expenditures.

It is depressing to hear this. From 44 to 40 in less than 60 days is sad. Of course the server and advertising cost is much cheaper now. I might increase the advertising budget and see how the returns will show up. Though the new trend appears to be detrimental to the income, I'm sure the acceleration in ad spending will level the deficit.

Diamond business is facing its bad times now.about 80% of the orders are stucked up. This is a correction, not only Indian Rupee appreciated, many other currencies has also appreciated at the same time. This correction will take a long time to heal..(Approx 1year)

we all think the rs. is getting stronger, but the truth is that the $$$ is getting weaker...Think about most BPOs in the country, not a loss acctually, its only a reduction in margin. remember the time when a $$$ was as cheap as 36Rs? years back...though the govt. will not allow that to happen again....40 is as low as it can get.

no one wants a $$$$ these days....how about one pound articles for a change anyone? :-D

Yes I was thinking in same way.It really troubles you in case of long term contracts. You quote on the basis of current rate and the rate goes way down.
One more option is to quote on the basis of UK pounds.

As a matter of curiosity, how much does it cost in INR to maintain a family of four and live a good life in a major city in India, like Bangalore, for instance?

I was in India from 03rd April until the 13th April. I noticed that the exchange rate was 40 per dollar and 56.50 per Euro. I remeber few years back it was 49.

Although it is a good sign for the economy, outside visitors like myself find it sad. :)
