Indexing Problems With MSN

My site is having substantial trouble getting indexed by MSN. It is a static html site 1 yr old and is fully indexed in google and yahoo. I have html validated each page and everything looks fine, but I still can not get indexed by msn.

MSN has been crawling my site according to my logs and many times it is as much as google and yahoo for the last year. Regarding back links I have over 1000 showing in MSN so it is finding links back to my site, but still will not index me. I have also submitted to MSN 4 times over the last year.

I am positive I have done nothing illegal and I have noticed a few other sites I follow have the same problem. For instance http://www.debtsteps.com/, indexed in google and yahoo, but not msn.

Can anyone provide me any suggestions or has anyone had a similar problem that they solved with MSN? Is there another way to contact MSN search to ask for help other than their site owner feedback form?

Could there be problem with my hosting server configuration? If so what do I look for or ask my hosting company?

I have tried contacting MSN on several occasions through the feedback form, but I just keep getting the same boiler plate response:

"Thank you for writing to MSN Search Technical Support regarding your site not getting indexed. I understand the inconvenience this matter may have caused you.

I have forwarded your concern to the MSN Search Product Specialist Team for proper attention. Rest assured that we are doing everything within our means to remedy the situation.

MSN Search has comprehensive online help available to you. For more information about features, functions, and issues, click the "Help" link at the top of any MSN Search page.

Thank you for using MSN Search."

    It's an interesting one.
I would be inclined to setup a subdomain and mirror the site there exclusively for msnbot. In other words, redirect msnbot (and ONLY msnbot) to the subdomain, and ensure you exclude all other bots (via robots.txt). If you have the option, use an alternative IP as well.

It looks like a ban to me, pure and simple. But assuming it's not, and instead an anomaly, a subdomain should work.

    Good luck,

    JL

I've got a similar problem with one of my sites. It used to rank top 10 in MSN, but then for no reason they dopped all the pages except the index. I contacted MSNdude on WebmasterWorld about it and he said they'd look into it.

In the months since, my site has been getting heavily crawled by MSNbot but they've managed to add only 10 more pages out of the hundred or so they've spidered.

It's very strange indeed. Anyone got any suggestions?

I have similar problem for 1 of my site. It is a 2 and half months old website. Since MSN is not my main target of search engine, so I just leave it.

Trying to get indexed in MSN? Try getting your site in the MSB Central. Putting a link in your signature can also help. If links are not the problem then you need to contact MSN and see if they are penalizing your site for some reason.
