Indexing only one page on new sites

I'm noticing increasingly that google tends to index only the homepage of new sites, and the period of time from indexing the first page to indexing the whole site has increased in recent months. Does anyone feel the same way on this?

Yeh i think it depends on a few factors, but of course, im not sure what they are.

I had a site with PHP session IDs get fully cached, but a mod rewritten site still only has 1 page...

mine was mod-rewritten... mambo SEF mod-rewrite..

what is your site structure like? do you have a directory/hierachial structure? that helped me alot... also submit to sitemaps .. i couldnt figure out a way to submit the complete 500,000 pages (10 x 50,000 urls in sitemap) .. but i got like 1,000 in there and google crawled the rest after that... also a few bl's from high pr sites worked well too

just high pr links... google sitemap... good hierarchy

it took like 1 week to get spidered and indexed by g bot. at first only our homepage appeared for like 1-2 weeks

then one day i woke up.. noticed server log flood... and then from that point google keeps spidering and everday another 5,000 - 10,000 pages appear in the site: tool

Yeah, I'm having decent luck with high PR links as well. But not many other methods seem to be doing great with google these days.

I use co-op to "try" and get some sites indexed.. But no matter what weight i push, it is not as good as some high pr links..

i dont really bother with competition any more and getting tons of bl's... i like going wide and pumping shitloads of dynamic content/pages online.. it follows the most important key to success: leverage :)

check out site:realestate.com site:findarticles.com.. site:answers.com ... ull see thats how these guys are generating insane adsense revenue and driving shitloads of traffic ... all leverage using the power of content..

also whats great about going wide ( instead of doing what most people do which is try to "compete" for keywords)...
    sandbox doesnt even affect you....

the site that has 128,000 pages indexed is for a client of mine and already after 4 weeks is getting on 4,000- 5,000 page views and about 2,000 uniques a day.

That has been my nightmare for 3 months, between march and May, when I started some sites. Google indexed only homepage, and indexed it every day, but only homepage. Whatever I tried Google only indexed home page, however Msn and Yahoo! were OK. Sometimes, at first indexed a few pages,, but some days later deindexed them and only homepage remained in the index. What more I can say is that only post Allegra (remember?) sites were affected.

I normally expect that the homepage gets indexed within a day or 2. Then the rest depends on how many bl's are pointing at the site, the more bl's the faster the rest gets crawled. At least that's my experience.
Of course, G like to throw a spanner in any theory. I put one site live beginning of last month and G indexed the whole thing within 7 days (with only 1 IBL) and is now sending about 750 visitors per day. I don't know why G decided that it loves this site so much - wish it would do the same with my other sites. There are still less than 100 IBL's pointing at this site :D
