indexed pages with or without www ?

Google is showing indexed pages of my site with site command as 94 using www and 116 using without www.
So what should i count as my indexed pages ?
are they 116 or 94.

I guess there are overlapping between the indexed pages. Maybe you should set your preferred domain at webmaster tools.

 

Set your domain to point to www. always

 

And try to use Google Webmaster's Tools - you can set your preference there.

 

so using webmaster central will give me the exact and accurate number of indexed pages when i set my domain to using www.
and do you recommend checking indexed pages using webmster central and not through site command.

this is also applicable to checking backlinks not through link command but using webmaster central ?

 

You will get the same results. Otherwise setting preferred domain is highly recommended

 

why should your preferred domain always be "www"?
