As always, thanks for looking Of the five websites under my company umbrella one has lost 24,000 indexed pages in the past 24 hours (dropped from 212,000 to 188,000). We have already gone through our share of BigDaddy headaches-and all of our sites have come through the update with only minor issues. Could this drop of 24k pages just be some sort of normal pruning, or should I begin to freak out? Thank you in advance for your help...pass the Maalox
without giving the URL of the site in question, don't expect very relevant answeres to your question. The drop of indexd pages could be caused by irrelevant, poor quality or no backlinks, difference in google datacenters and a million of other reasons. Just wait a little bit before you freak out
Sorry, the URL is in my profile. I didn't put it into my post because I didn't want people to think I was spamming for the company I work for
Well here's what most folks are experiencing: 1 - It starts out exactly the way you're describing 2. It continues until you've got one page indexed, the index.html page 3. No one really knows why, but lots of people think they do 4. Eventually, slowly, your pages will be brought back into the index 5. Almost all of them will be in "supplemental hell" for awhile 6. How long in supp hell? Anywhere from a few weeks to a few months 7. How to get out of supp hell? No one knows, but lots of people think they do 8. And during all of this, Google will ignore your pleas for help and answers. Sorry to sound cynical, but I'm just giving you a sample of the reality that's to come. I sincerely hope you don't have to go through all of that.
