I'm experiencing a crazy fact... In Yahoo we have #1 and #2 position for some keywords, while in google we have #6. #7 and #11 for the same ones... Yes, I have heard that Yahoo's ranking system considers more in-page content, and Google's considers other factors.. My site's whole domain have not much indexed pages in Google (like 70-100 total). I've noticed that the first positions have more than 1k indexed pages. Does this total pages number really affect in Google's SERP ?
I don't think indexed pages matter a lot. Ive seen sites with few pages ranking better than the sites I work on. You need to focus on back links and their anchor texts for ranking high on Google for those KWs.
I've had a site that has 250,000 indexed pages but wasnt ranked as well as I wanted for certain keywords on Google. For SEO, just constantly have the keywords you want all over the page and get external backlinks and your set.
IMO the more pages you have on your site the better. The amnt of relevant pages on your site is def a factor.
