I have been doing some investigation on my competitors and have found that the amount of index content seems to play a part in their SERPS for specific keywords. I have checked the competitors anchor text for their back links, also their on page optimization and their PR (if that really makes a difference these days.). In doing this analysis I have found a few competitors that have on average the same stats as me (links with anchor text, On page opt., PR), however they rank way above me. The only thing that they crush me on, is number of indexed pages. So my question is, does index pages in Google mean this much? or is there something else obvious that I could possibly be missing? I am also wondering if the standard answer of "content, content, content" actually refers to the amount of indexed pages you have.
i did not undertstand what you mean. indexed pages are important because google is running queries when some clicks on the search button. can you give more information about your problem
In simple terms, just wondering if I have a home page that has information about "bats", my competition and I both have the same backlinks with the keyword bats, we both have excellent on page optimization, however my competition is no 1 in "bats" and I am not 22. The only major difference in the sites is the amount of indexed pages. I have 10 pages indexed, however my competition has 200 pages indexed. So I am wondering if this is causing the difference in our SERPS for our HOME page.
You may have the same number of backlinks. But what about the quality and location of the backlinks? How old is the site - age does make a difference.
Well see.. Ranking of a single page is not influenced by "how many pages you have" factor.. That depends how well optimized you particular page.. how many inbound links have you got and what anchor text are being used for those pages what is the quality of incoming links, whats your site's age and pagerank.. But more indexed pages are always nice because More page = More Span in Keywords = More organic Traffic. I'll explain with an example, I have a site it had about 120 Pages initially, all the pages were ranking well in targeted keywords the traffic I was getting was rougly 15,000 to 20,000 Uniques/month. The for some reasons I decided to add more pages.. I expanded the site by near 700 Pages, in 3 months the total hits from Search Engines went to 35,000-50,000 uniques/month. because new pages were targeting new keywords thus giving more exposure area to site and bringing more traffic
The quality for sure number one, but then again, how do you define quality , that seems to be the part that everybody translates different for themselves .
