hi, i have a website which had 8,000+ indexed pages in google but now the pages have fallen below 6,000. what can this be from? all of my pages still exist and are even growing weekly.
I think some problem in your site navigation scheme. Did you created Sitemap.xml and verify it into Google Webmaster Tool?
hello, as u told there are thousands of pages on your website, it might be possible that all pages having same meta tags and content. i suggest you to increase quality of your website and do proper internal linking. all the best
the pages have the same meta tags but all content is different since it is all different music album and artist information (discography)
Possible Reasons: 1. Duplicate title tag and content.. 2. The internal linking pages are not structured well. 3. You dont have a sitemap xml. 4. Google updates on its data. 5. Be sure the size of your pages is not huge. 6. Possible problem of the hosting. I recommend to monitor your index pages daily.
Do you have more than one possible url for any pages.. sometimes you can do a site:www... commmand in google and sometimes its different if you use site:http://www. Sometimes it may look like all the pages are not being spidered but they are, just under a different url, this is worse for dynamic webpages
it's a little hard for having everything on the www prefix with Server 2003 and IIS but with a little help from DP i think i figured it out. i should have that soon.
Yea that might be the case in your site, please check indexed pages with site:http://www(.)domainname(.)com and site:http://domainname(.)com you will find difference in the indexed pages.
