    Hi,

This week i checked one day and i had 276k results for my site in google index.

Next day it was 505k however no new pages were visible in the results. I thought it would take some time for them to appear.

However 2 days later it was back to 290k and today its 306k.

In the mean time mu sitemap shows 582 k pages are indexed

Can anyone explain me what happened? is this a momentarily glitch? Am i going to have those 505k pages indexed?

    Some knowledge needed.

Number of indexed pages can change: it is quite normal.

You are using site: operator to check indexed pages?

"In the mean time mu sitemap shows 582 k pages are indexed"

You are seeing this information in google webmaster tools?

really? does it really change from time to time? geeez. i did not know that hahaha

anyone with real knowledge other than "i am trying to increase my comments" crowd?

yes you can see the number of pages google indexed from your GWT. and yes i am using site: operator.

the thing is my indexed pages go up and down 3-10k sometimes even 30k in a day. however having such a raise in the number and then going back in one day confused me.

Many fluctuations can be reported about the number of pages indexed in the Google index and many elements like the temporary matters about servers or the database updates could be among the items and there is no problem.

I've seen this happen too with some of my pages. To me it usually seems like some sort of google "glitch," as it would usually return to normal within several days. If what I suspect is true, when you check it again within several days it should be back to normal.
