If I'm wrong please let me know. I recently bought a new domain and I'm proud to say that it was crawled and index within 12hrs. I don't know if that's really all that good but I think so. For the last 2 days I've been waiting to see in Googles Webmaster Tool's if it has been indexed or not and it just now saw it was index but with the day a few days ago. so apprently there is a huge lag in when a site is actually index and when it reports in Google's Webmaster Tools. Also the site was not listed in any of searches until today aswell. SO I guess there is a lag for searches as well even if a page has been crawled and indexed. Is there another way of telling when a site/page is index? I was told that viewing a page on google cache is the best way to tell when a page has been index.
site:yourdomain.com in google search and check the cache date is pretty much your best bet. Things don't happen instantly with google. There is a lag for getting indexed and coming up in the search results and there is also a lag between different google data centers as well.
it takes a really long time for anything to show on google webmasters. I had to wait a few months myself.
Well this was the first site I made after I was already using the tools so I didnt know there was a lag. So far I'm noticing a 2day lag which isn't that bad really. Sure I would like it alot less but its not that bad. What do you mean but "depends if you market it"? You mean selling something or service from the website?
