Hi, I have built a new site, had it verified in Webmaster Tools, done Sitemap etc. My site was indexed within 3-4 days in Google. Thing is: I can find it if I enter my full domain name in to the search query (two pages show up), but, it does not appear at all for the SEO keywords I have used. I have checked the full 100 pages returned. I am new to this, and need your feedback guys - is this normal, to be indexed but not appear at all for your keywords for a while - OR, have I possibly been penalized for something and I need to check this out further, or I'll be waiting forever? Thanks in advance
It comes up, no problems, try something like this: Problem I see is maybe duplicate content? Lack of content in general? Lack of links? Whats average site size in pages for your industry, whats average back link count in your industry? Is your site at last 3-6 months old? What keywords you are targeting for? Are they competitive ones or easy approachable long tail?
Hi, thanks for your input. Yes, I see it comes up on that search - but not for the keyword I optimised for 'diabetes diet' There is unique content on the page (scroll down please), and more unique article content on further pages. But, yes, I do need to build up the content side. I realise that this new site will not return in the top pages - but I thought it would appear within the first 100 pages! I am in the process of link building, and they are starting to show up now. Soo, as my site is showing up on it's direct text search, would you say it has not been penalised for any reason (not that I've knowingly done something bad!). It's just very new and will show in it's keywords in time ??? If so, I can live with that and keep working !
Well, my friend - you must do your SEO research first before aiming for such competitive keyword. On top 10 you will need PR4 - PR6 and couple hundred to thousand links. Also Yahoo and DMOZ listings would help.
Your site is listed in google search engine doesn't mean you will be listed when searching for certain keyword. You have do SEO work in order to get to the top 100. Anyway, all the best to you!!
Thank you both for your replies. Yes, I know I will need to build up SEO for the keywords. Will set to work !! Thanks again !
your onsite seo is looking fine to me, if that are the keywords you decided to go for, but to get ranked good in serp for your keywords, you will need to do alot of off site seo, which includes backlink building. so make directory submissions, social bookmarking, anchor text link exchanges, also contact other administrators in your niche and ask for link exchanges and all that matter good luck to you
Best you target a keyword phrase that's more targeted and less competitive. Then you can include some other links to your other pages when it gets indexed...that's hitting 2 birds with 1 stone... Notice the top 10 in Google for "Diabetic Diet?"...yes , they're sites with either solid PRs, gov sites, etc, etc Get your page dugged and stumbled, submit to propeller and instead of targeting "Diabetic diet" ( common and very competitive, you'd ), why not try these other keyword phrases: pre diabetic diet diabetic diet plan american diabetic diet diet for diabetic diabetic exchange diet type 2 diabetic diet 2000 calorie diabetic diet diabetic diet menu diabetic diet plans diabetes diet gestational diabetes diet diet for diabetes type 2 diabetes diet diabetes diet plan diet for gestational diabetes diabetes and diet diabetic diet guidelines free diabetic diet 1800 calorie diabetic diet pre diabetes diet american diabetic association diet diet for type 2 diabetes sample diabetic diet the diabetic diet diabetic diets gestational diabetes diet plan 1200 calorie diabetic diet diabetic diet food 1500 calorie diabetic diet type ii diabetes diet a diabetic diet gestational diabetic diet diet for a diabetic diabetic diet recipes diabetes association diet type 1 diabetes diet renal diabetic diet diabetes diet plans american diabetes diet diabetic diet menus diabetic association diet ada diabetic diet diabetic diet fat loss supplement diabetic living diet No data diabetic weight loss diet diabetic diet fa tloss supplement No data diabetic diet meal plan diabetes 2 diet diet soda diabetes diabetic diet sheet diabetes prevention diet best diabetic diet 1800 diabetic diet 1500 diabetic diet diabetes diet menu diet controlled diabetes low carb diabetic diet diabetic diet information diabetes exchange diet diabetes mellitus diet diabetes diet cookbook No data diet for pre diabetes diabetic diet foods 1600 calorie diabetic diet diabetic diet meal diabetes diet guidelines gestational diabetes and diet controlling diabetes with diet vegetarian diabetic diet diet to prevent diabetes diabetes diets borderline diabetic diet ================ Done correctly, you can still end up among the top in SERPs and get some really good traffic too ...
If I may add...( since I see some advices here about getting some backlinks): The search engines are now looking for Anchor Text back links embedded in paragraphs of keyword rich content. Not just an Anchor Text link from a sites side bar or footer. There are some DP Forumers who will accept your article with a max of 3-4 links ( put your keyword phrase here and point it to the url of the webpage you want ).. Choose blogs that have decent PRs... I hope this helps
You should focus on on-screen seo and building quality backlinks, and you must be patient because when you are targeting competitive keywords it will take a long time to rank well especially when your site is new.
Yes, Building links and adding content frequently in the website are the best way to get on top in Google.
