Hi everyone, The recent blog I started, http://www.paintballblog.co.uk, is now being indexed by Google. Great! Using awstats I have found a number of keyphrases that my blog is being indexed for. An examples of such a phrase being "tippmann x-7 review". I checked Google by searching for the exact same phrase, but instead of the page of my review being displayed, my RSS feed, and THEN the index of the blog is being shown. It's great that I am being indexed, I am the second and third result for this particular keyphrase, but my main content isn't being shown. Ideally I would want this page to be shown: http://www.paintballblog.co.uk/2006/11/25/review-new-tippmann-x7-marker/ I don't see the problem as the URL is SEF so why isn't it being indexed? It may be worthwhile to mention that I am using the latest version of Wordpress with a Sitemap generator plugin to ping Google each time I update. Could anyone shed any light on this? Thanks in advance.
It is most likely because your blog is just recent. At first GoogleBot will be taking in all information but probably won't index every single link on your site. Your main site has the most backlinks so Google sees it as the most important, for now at least. Give it time, the rest of your pages will get indexed as well.
Once googlebot visited your site it will come back by itself, no need pinging Google. It doesnt change much while ping flood might cause googlebot to ignore the site. You better ping blog services, like those offered in http://pinger.blogflux.com, it will bring more avail.
I've experienced this with a blog I started, using feedburner. Once your main site receives more links search engines will know whos boss
Thanks guys, as you can probably tell I am new to this. Learning a lot though so thanks for your help.
there are pages that really takes time before getting indexed. so just be patient continue on getting backlinks and also as what Richie Ni said signatures help as well.
