What are the things that you do to index a site ? what are the things that you do to make the crawler coming again and again to visit those pages ?

 

1) get quality links pointed to your site.
2) update your site with regular fresh content.

After that just keep updating it a few times a week

 

how about adding a news feed to the site ? will then the crawler be able to come again ?

 

Get some quality backlinks from related good pr sites,
Put your site link in your signature in DP,
Submit sitemap to google.
Your site will be indexed in 2-3 days.

To get it crawled again and again you need to build more and more good quality back links and add new content to your site on regular basis.

want a fast indexing in search engines. you can do the followings -
a) put your link at the link which is regularly indexed by SEs
b) social bookmarking
c) make signatures in forums

And submit the created site maps to Google and Yahoo. MSN takes Google's and I also think Yahoo take Google's

As you make changes to the site, recreate the site map and re submit it.
