   where can i do this?

   You can create an account in say namecheap or some other registrar then have the domain push to that account. Do ensure that you have full control over the account.

   You can try a 'transfer' of the domain name. I personally use http://domain.ezspl.com, since their support is great and they accept paypal also and you can 'lock' your domain there.
   
   But the choice is yours
