Over the last weeks I have on and off monitored SERP's results and what visitors actually clicked (visited). A site of mine has quite a lot of secondary results very targeted to the search but more users seem to click on the leading entry rather than on the indent one. Anyone similar experience? Expat PS I do see in real time user query and what result page they came from.
Same experience here... more clicks to the top listing, even when the indent is more appropriate. BUT you have to agree that having the indent makes the top listing more likely to be clicked simply due to eye appeal.
I agree with vBmechanic on this. Usually get many more leads when an indented listing is marked and like you said usually more appropriate of a listing and they will click on the top one. Lots more hits when it is a double listing even if it is 2&3 or 3&4. I notice that I have the habit of clicking the first one on a subject I am searching but then I hit back and go to the indented one. I don't know why, maybe just a habit??
Hi thanks for sharing. I agree I don't "complain" about the clicks as such and their level. If I have a bit of time I'll look into conversion but my gut feel is that a "top" click don't convert as well - target is a bit to fuzzy. This is the bit of my concern that visitors may click back and than jump the indent, when not been given the answer the first time.... e.g. "c**p site next".... Cheers Expat
