Well after a long time of working on this site, I have decided it is time to let it go, I have spent a lot of time on the design, and building the member database, unfortunately I am going to university soon and wont have the time to dedicate to this lovely site.

Traffic
Earlier this month we also had our server hacked and so we lost all previous awstats, you can view all the awstats from the past week here though:

As you can see, we have had 5,000 UV's in just under a week! Last month we received 20,000 UV's although I am unable to verify this obviously due to the issues we've had.

Revenue
Currently to make money I have been using adsense (making roughly $7-$10/month), I have also been selling banners and links on the forum, in total this has brought in $50 of revenue, although this does vary every month, and really does depend on how hard you try with the forum. I am sure you could make $100+/month with this forum, but I simply don't have the time anymore to build it up to that.

Are all the uniques coming via PPC or signatures? The organic seems a little light.

 

i'd also like to know where the traffic is coming from please, organic search is poor - little more than 50 people for that period, so where are the other 4950 people coming from?

Hello Guys,

We have not been running a PPC campaign, infact the only form of advertising we have done is through forums like DP, and generally posting in forums, and signature links. Thats where the majority of our traffic has been coming from as we have mainly been trying to do targeted advertising by advertising on teenage and business forums.

Everything is coming from angelmule.com (less maybe a hundred or so visits) with the rest coming from cigerettes and pharmacy sites?

 

May I ask you why are you selling the site? We're buying potentially profitable websites but we would need a little more in-depth information before taking any decisions.

TLSC: Yes, Angel Mule is a links forum and offers backlinks with your signature, we also did some link building and some sites were pharmacy sites, we have hired a few link building companies, and that would be where the medical sites have most likely come from.

Engineered: As I said in my original post, I don't have the time to run the site as I am about to start at university, so I need to sell the site, if I don't then I wont have the time to run it, and it will slowly die, which I would hate to see happen as it is a great forum.

Hi Shane,

I was concerned as well a few months ago so I did a questionnaire with all my members and the reason is because many of our members log on regularly, and as you may of noticed there is a 'new posts' button at the top, most of them load the site up, click that button for any new posts since they last visited, and if there are none they will leave the site.

On average how many posts are being made on the forum per day?

 

It really does vary, because the forum is targeted towards teenagers our busiest days are Saturday and Sunday, and some days we get over 40 posts, during the week we average about 10-20 new posts each day.
