I have been operating my site www.flightfinderau.com for almost a year nowc and to date i get about 120-150 page views per day and very little traffic from search engines, mostly its referrals from backlinks etc. My site is basically a place where cheap airfare deals from australia can be found - similar to secretflying (who actually steal my posts and republishes it as theirs) Now i like to increase my traffic, in particular traffic from search engines. I use Yoast in all my blog posts and dont post until i get the green dots. I also post regularly to facebook (1500 followers), twitter (400 followers), instagram (300 followers) and also have a email list of 300. Yet my site traffic is not increasing. Please help! I love to know what I am doing wrong.
It doesn't matter whether or not you are using Yoast. What kind of backlink profile do you have? Because its what that gets counted while getting ranked in the SERP's.
What kind of keyword research are you doing? Thats step one, if you get that wrong, the rest only gets harder.
I found the site hard to understand. It was only after clicking links from http://www.flightfinderau.com/auckland-christchurch-194-return-flying-jetstar/ that I found the flights were Melbourne - Auckland or Melbourne to Christchurch. It's a tough niche to crack and I suspect you need to start spending real money on advertising, the way webjet does.
You are using and don't post before getting the green dots, sometimes you have the post where you do not put the Title in the first paragraph as it is and in the subheadings (same title) and also not in the description so how you will put the same, if you do this then it means your post is over optimized. You said you are not getting the desired traffic from SE and Social, it may be you are not ranked for the keywords that people search. Why are you not getting the traffic from Social Media? There are many reasons, Maybe your followers are not genuine (you know better). Maybe you exchange the followers.
Your site structure is not understandable by the user. If you see the examples: https://uk.flightaware.com/live/findflight/ https://www.flightstats.com/v2/flight-tracker/search Redesign and make your site easy to use with relevant keywords. After that, you can try invest time in SEO
If you had a site and moved it to a new domain (redirtecting all pages to new site using .htaccess) does the backlink credit for the old site follow you to the new site?
