Increasing Site Load Time - Any Design Tips Please

Hello, i think my website may be loading too slow, i mainly work on a wi fi within my home and quite a distance from the terminal. Yet sometimes the site can take ages to load in the browser.

I really feel this is causing an issue with the bounce rate for searchers using keywords that i have lots of information about.

Can you please advise on my load time and perhaps provide some tips as to what can be done in order to increase the load time by design improvements.

    Thank you DP

First thing I noticed was the file size of the the images on your homepage. Your header image is like 90K and the two images below that are both around 70K.

If you "save for the web" in Photoshop they could probably be more like 10k-20k JPG files.

Now I just noticed your background images are even larger - 160K for the gray background, which should be more like 5k-10k.
You can also use CSS to repeat the background image, which means the file size could be even smaller, more like 1k-2k.

Basically once your images are reduced in size your page speed will increase dramatically.

According to my web host, WordPress's All in One SEO Pack (which you appear to be using) will slow down your site a fair bit. Disable it and see if you notice a difference. Consider a lighter SEO plugin if so.
