Hey guys. I've trying to get into Adsense more and more each day, and I'm deffo making progress. I've cracked getting targeted visitors to my site (who actually click), proven by getting 14 clicks today, compared to 0 a week ago. However, my earnings from those 14 clicks is pretty poor - just over $1. What can I do to improve my earnings (not sure what the proper word for it is), or is it all about the site's niche/topic, which I won't be changing!

Essentially, I want a list of what affects earnings :)

If you have got 14 clicks and earned $1 you are in an average paying niche.

This doesn't mean you can't make it work for you - it just means you are going to spend a lot of time building backlinks and after 1 or 2 years trying to build backlinks to an average paying site you may look back and wish you had tried another niche.

    What niche are you in?

All you need is traffic. And lots of it so concentrate now on building traffic. Spend 99% of your time doing this and you will get results.

Forget reading all the posts on forums and continually checking how much you are earning. This wastes a lot of time.

build traffic to your site. Get it through free methods like commenting on blogs etc etc.

    Build traffic.

Traffic you say? Well I can do that :) Thanks mate

I'll never regret the niche choice.. I didn't develop the site to make as much money as possible, instead I made a site on something I'm knowledgeable with and am passionate about. I guess my target is to become a bigger site not a bigger earner (which obviously comes hand in hand either way!)

I forgot to mention that around a year ago, I spent a few months developing a similar site of the same niche (football/soccer community) - if I remember correctly I was averaging around 0.30 per click, much more than I am at the moment. The site was older, but would have had around the same traffic as my current site, and with probably less links. Can that be explained? :)

Also, again thinking back, it was a god awful coded site as well. Tables everywhere, no SEO values at all. Links to it would have been poor quality. Lol, any explanation, or is AdSense really that randomly variable?

So it is essentially just niche and traffic then.
