Clicking on your own ads will get you banned. You need to try and figure out why the CTR is low.. try moving ads around.. changing colors.. blending.

Are you talking about ad*sense or ad*words?

you posted in the ad*words section in which case you can click your own ads to get a higher CTR but you are paying for your own clicks. if you do this correctly it can be a good thing though because you will establish higher position.

if you are talking about ad*sense, then no do not click your own ads.

Test different ads with eye-grabbing headlines, keywords and action words in your ad text. You can also enter negative keywords for your campaign so your ad is not showing for searches that aren't relevant. By reducing unnecessary impressions, you also increase your click through rate, eg. if you were marketing only "personal loans", you could add negative keywords such as "home" or "house" so your ad is not showing for people who aren't looking for your product.

SpeedPPCs advice is good. Read up a little on copywriting if you need help, too.

Lots of people do click their own adword ad's to increase CTR. It's still an effective tactic. You can click on them, just make sure they all seem like organic clicks.

Clicking on your own ads will have little to no effect. Once you click on them a second time, that second click is not counted since its a dupe.

clicking on your own ads will not get you banned...

clicking on your own ads on not an effective way to increase CTR. Who did you hear that from?

WickedFire. As long as clicks come from totally different IP ranges, it will work effectively.

the amount of time you waste on this thia would put to better use improving your ads, and tightening up your keywords.
And surely putting in a higher bid - so your ad position is higher up, is a better way of spending money than paying for your own clicks.

If you can make your add relevant to your prospects mindset then you will get higher click through rates.

even if you can successfully do it, it would not be worth the cost

i guess you're right. my cpc for this ad campaign is about $2-2.5 per click. this cpc's still low for my keywords and i'm thinking of bidding it up today. yesterday i thought maybe i could lower my cpc to xx cents then click my own ads to acheive a high ctr. when it's done, i could raise my bid to XX dollars to get a higher ad postion. guess this's a bad idea.
