Increased use of CPM?

All of my sites seem to be getting CPM advertising. They aren't very high traffic so the payout is really really poor. Is there any reason for the increased use of CPM or is it the norm for christmas? (no idea why it would be).

I'm seeing an increase of CPM earnings too ... dont know why, I didn't changed placement, colors ...

you can blend your ads, it think if the cpm so high the ads need to be optimized

Google automatically determines which ad type pays higher and displays accordingly. CPM is good way to make money if you have a ton of pageviews like in a forum, etc...
