Suggestion Increase the amount of posts before you're allowed a signature.

I've seen to many people around here that's only aim is to post anything they can to rank up a post count so they can get some more free exposure to their signature. They have no intentions of adding any value to this forum.

They basically just want free traffic to this forum which A) isn't fair to the paying advertisers on this forum B) de-values the content here

I already reported one guy but I believe I've seen a couple more.

I say just limit the signature to one link, displayed on only one post/thread.

I agree they should be change to premium membership only. Lot of people are motivated to post to help people but because it increases the chance they may get some more traffic.

LOL man, you've seen nothing yet.

Check Directories Forums and you will see a dozen of "I have directories list" threads
populated by 20 - 30 "thank you" posts by people who made their first post not in
Introduction but in Directories Forum and then postroll their signatures without leaving it.

I'm still waiting when Shawn will officially rename DP to Trollsylvania.

    :)

Signatures are only really worth anything if you've posted a lot, so I guess you mean when people have like 1000+ posts?

Yeah that would be the idea, just to stop people coming here creating a flashy signature and then posting stuff like "I have one too", "Hmm seems very strange", "I like chocolate milk".

They tend to hang around general chat as they know they can get away with short posts better their and don't have to spend a lot of time reading a complicated post or giving an indepth answer to anything their mission is to post as much as possible.

I agree, but not on the 1,000 posts increase lol. That would take forever for people who don't spend all day in front of their laptops. I mean, I lurk way more than I post, and I'd eventually like a signature haha.

Maybe a 3-strikes rule, or a period of time where a person fails to make a [valuable] post coud help diminish the spam?

It's not that simple they stick to threads they can give less valuable posts such as general chat, but you can tell what they're doing because they'll login make 10 posts all less than 5 words long within 10 minutes and then log off again and be back tomorrow to do the exact same thing.

They look like bots at first another member of a thread I was in thought that one member that stuck out more than others was some kind of automated program, some of the replies didn't make any sense in relation to the thread topic.
