A guy want to promote brand, product or service over online in Social Networks includes social networking sites & Micro Blogging sites. I came to know that some social media marketer build a group to promote their brand using following on twitter, facebook likes and many other.

Is this right way to get audience or what are other way to gain popularity in Social Web Networks.
