    Dear DP members,

It seems that Yahoo is going to increase the price of the domains to $35 which will be implemented after July 1 2008 :(

What is wrong with Yahoo ? Any Comments ? I am going to move all my domains to Daddy.

A lot of people don't know where to get their domains from somewhere else. Also some don't feel like moving (since yahoo is a reputable company). Yes yahoo will lose customers, but a lot will stay.

They may end up making even more money because they can loose more than 66% of their current customers and still make a bigger profit.

Seriously, don't laugh at $35 a domain. The company I work for uses register.com - $35 a year - and they have well over 200 domains registered. Yeah ...

P.S. mdrafi - Where did you get the avatar? Very cool.

Well, if this is true, there is nothing wrong to be surprised. The $2.99 pricing is certainly way below cost and they were making a loss for each domain name which they lease. There is certainly a catch for this as Yahoo is not a charity and looking at their history they want to get market share and certain be able to make a tidy profit from their customers.

Yahoo resells for Melbourne IT and they offer domain names at $35 a year. I supposed the promotional period is coming to an end and you would certainly need to pay the price if you cannot transfer out your domain names.
