I am new to SEO, can any one please let me know how to increase the keywords ranking for a website...?

There are lots of ways to get your rankings up here are some basics:
- article submission
- add signature to forum with your site in it
- submit to reputable directories
- submit to free classifieds like Kijji, craiglist
- press release
- social bookmarking
- on page optimization

 

Research your keywords so that you have some good ones. Post frequently and use your keywords. Get some high quality backlinks. You should be good to go!

 

How many keywords are you targeting? When starting out, a rule of thumb is to target on a few keywords and you'll get more links per keyword. Plus, don't try to target the highly competitive keywords...but those that get more conversions. Hope this helps you!

 

Get some unique and valuable backlinks for your sites and dont stop to bookmark your pages in social bookmarking sites.

Optimize your site's pages. Post links to high authority and high PR sites. Make sure your keywords are not highly competitive or it will take more time to get a top page ranking.

 

You may following these steps.

1. Prepare your on-page optimization - Before build up any links you should prepare your page and every elements on the page as best first. Here is the checklist - Title Tag / Meta Description / Meta Keywords / H Tags (H1 - H6) / Bold tag / Main content.

2. Build up your links - You should not overdoing on link building from the beginning. It would make your site looking suspicious for some spam pattern. You should get the link slowly but steady pace. Remember - quality does matter over quantity as always.

3. Google Webmaster Tools - Use it wisely and you would get a good results. You should create your GWT account --> Get your site verified --> Submit sitemap. You should come back and check for any error regularly. Keep an eye on 404 Not Found error and malware reported.

Otherwise as everyone stated - Keep consistency and be patient. The ranking would not come overnight anyway.

 

I find that comments on relevant blogs or articles work just fine ! and take less time to make fast new links.

Keywords searching.(should be unique and small)
Blogs comments.
