    Hello Friends

I new to this forum, This is my first post, plz do help me.

I am handling some sites for SEO, and my boss is complaining that there is increase in spam mails and the inquiry rate is reduced. Though the number of visitors is increased in last two months (according to Google analytics).

what could be the possible reasons for the increase in spam mails and decrease in inquiry rate?

Do by submitting site to directory submission site could lead to increase in spam mails. (i am using separate email id for directory submissions)

    Thanks

Always use temp email accounts when you start on the directory submission campaigns, so that after the listings are confirmed, you can just delete the email account.

I've always used permanent email addresses for directory submissions and I must have submitted to thousands of them over time...

I can't say I've ever had a problem with spam because of it.

Perhaps your boss needs to purchase some anti-spam software?

As for a decrease in enquiry rates then you need to look at the site structure and analytical stats in depth and see how people are engaging with your site.

Are they are going to the page you want them to go to? If not, how can you change the site so that they do.

You've probably had your email address picked up by a spam-bot. The way to prevent this is to either use a contact form, so you don't need to have your email address on the site and/or disguise the email to bots with a bit of javascript.

Yea, check through your pages and see if you have your email address lurking round for every tom dick and harry to see. Make sure you check your html on every page, as it could very well be hidden there. I'd follow magda's advice, add a contact form instead of just a plain email address. That way, only the people that really want to contact you will do so.

I have separate hotmail id which I used for directory submissions. I will suggest my boss regarding anti spam software and go through Google analytics and try to find were the visitors are landing and for which keyword..

    Thanks for the help friends

Yes some directories sell mail ids to the spammers. Create one email for one project and when project finished just create another one. It is very common problem. When the ranking of a website increases in search engines, spam mails also increases.

Exactly.. Not all directories belong to spammers but there are good number of rotten apples in directory owners. I use a temporary email address for my submissions.
