    Hi,
just wondering on a travel related site I have the usual spike for 1st quarter BUT also the ctr of ADS has gone up by .3 It's been stable at 1.9/2.0 for a long time.

(numbers are averages over 60 days)

Yes it's nice to potentially earn a bit more, BUT for me the question is does it indicate that mayby targeting is off or even worse quality of pages no longer up to it?

Anyone used CTR to establish quality / targeting / focus of pages?

    Cheers

PS MSN not yet showing an effect on this. Overall conversion is stable, early signs show a slight up driven by traffic from MSN

If the targeting is off, I would think there would be a lower CTR, right?

I think a higher CTR indicates better targeting, as well as good placement, etc.

    Hi Josh,

thanks for the answer. CTR is relative to page impressions so position should not come into it too much.

Maybe I worry too much, but initially I thought additional 15% of vistors may not find what they are looking for so they wonder off.....

thats how i see it too...
depends of course whether your ctr has increased because page impressions have dropped. But if impressions remain constant..then 15% more are leaving....however 15% might also be seeing ads-sense that is really 'eye catching'...therefore well targetted. Really depends on the nature of your site whether its all good or bad....if you want them to stay and buy something...then its bad.
