Incorporation

    Hi,

I have a part time internet business (I work during thre day for the government) and want to incorporate. I live in Ottawa, Ontario. I need to go to an Accountant I know, but before I incur all those costs, I wanted to find out the easiest and most economical way to incorporate. One of the reasons is because I'm selling one of my websites and maybe more later and the rate of tax as an individual (proprietorship) is too much. Are the incorporation forms you can pick up at Staples/Business Depot okay to start ?

Other than the Canada Revenue Site, is there any ebook or other book that describes incorporating and some of the basics involved - withdrawals, dividends and so on ?

    Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

By those forms are you speaking about the one's from Self Counsel Press?
They are pretty useless unless you know how to use them.
You should get their book about Incorporation it's a good read if that's your cup of tea

Pickup the book called "Complete Canadian Small Business Guide", it walks you through alot.

But really you should go to a lawyer. Yes it's painfully expensive, but they are very good at what they do. There are lawyers that specialize in incorporation and can make sure you've covered all your bases, but you're looking at several grand in legal fees.

Another suggestion is to check www.citysoup.ca It's run by the province of BC, so it mostly has information related to that province's incorporation process, but I imagine alot of it is similiar in Ontario.
