Incorporating people-to-people interaction features for your blog

Hi guys. I created a blog a couple weeks ago and keep it updated with good content at least once daily. So far, it has brought in about 1660 unique visits in the first 21 days running, so i'd say it's off to a fairly decent start.

Although I know the purpose of blogs is for you the writer/editor to create posts for your readers to view, I was wondering if anybody here has incorporated any social features along w/ their blog, for user-to-user interaction. Perhaps some of you have added a niche social network or forum along with the blog, to expand it into a more interactive website.

I just wanted to know if any of you have done something like that, considered doing something but decided against it, or have any experiences to share regarding different ideas. I'm thinking about incorporating something further down the line, because I believe my niche would benefit from user-to-user interaction alongside the blog for discussion. I already have a comments section, so was just wondering what else is possible, ex. forums, social network, etc.

    Thanks for reading guys.
