What are your interests, no point making a site that does not interest you and you cannot successfully work with.
How much you will earn depends on many factors....what are your skills,how much time you are willing to invest on a daily basis,how much money are you willing to invest.... How do you mean which type of site? Build a site around a niche that you are interested in and have knowledge about.
The amount of money you can make online really depends on you. How well can you work? How fast can you acquire new skills? How experienced are you at Internet Marketing in general?
Mate, your question costs 1000000 bucks. Create something like google or yahoo. I know guys who make 10000 of bucks on adult sites a week. But i'm not going to build same site because that topic dislike me. Create a site about things that you know or love.

You obviously need a subject you are familiar with. You need not be an expert, but any original content you can write will be helpful. Also, pick something you really enjoy...if not, you won't stick with it.
