Inclusion questions to Directory Owners

    1. I am interested in submitting Games Online 4 Free a brand new game site, what are the chances of inclusion ? Should I wait for this a little before submitting ?

    2. How about the make money online site on blogspot PR4 ?

    3. I have submitted Geoland in the past and I had a few directories that rejected it. The site is not MFA, just a legitimate average blog (maybe a little more than average). They never gave reason for not inclusion even after I requested it by email.

    4. what are your thoughts in general of directory submission services ? (not automatic)

I am a little concerned that the submissions will be not worth my time if the directory owner wont accept them. Any thought ?

    Thanks

Well they are all decent and everything works well so i see no reason why it wouldnt be accepted in most if not all directories. Just make sure that when you are submitting your sites that you find the closest possible catagories and not go chasing others that are higher just for the sake of PR as thats why many will reject them.

Regardless good luck with your submissions...

    thx

Ultimately, it's the owner's decision. And of course submitters should take their responsibility to read the guidelines. Yet your link can be rejected for no apparent reason. It could happen, seemingly not fair.

Well, Dmoz doesn't seem so fair wouldn't you agree? But does this make you stop submitting your site to other directories?

Just keep trying. Some may think yours is a great site. Others may not. But I am sure you aren't trying to make everybody happy ;)

When I get rejected, I am not discouraged or anything. There are many opportunities, free directories on a daily basis ;)

Bulk stuff = big no no.

I think your sites are good and full of useful info (and a some fun, the game website)

    Thanks
    You're welcome

I'd have to peer further into everything if submitted though, but from the looks of things I like them all, even including your http://www.web-development-blog.com/
I see there is affiliation there, but it's clearly marked and not the center of your site.

A lot of sites are nothing but affiliate based and centralize themselves around such and aren't really good for resources. But as I noted on yours, you centralize around some good resources, and even though you have affiliation, it is contained and labeled, with nothing hiding, and I think seeing that in a site shows quality. I mean there is nothing wrong with affiliation, just as long as it's not the center point of a site.
    Follow what I mean now?

Honestly, I don't know why some directory owners rejected yours. Yours seem very decent to me, too.

But you win some and you lose some. We may not know why yours got rejected, that's the bottom line.

As for affiliate link, I meant adwords, that should be no big deal either. It's not your website focus unlike some sites that put those links (different ones beside adwords), like 20 or even 30 of them

@Chios - You can definitely submit your sites... I think there is nothing wrong with your sites/blog to get rejected. :)

There's nothing wrong with your blogs, although the topic of the make money online one might cause it to get rejected by some, because it tends to suggest a kind of "make money quick" theme. The main problem with that blog is that it doesn't have its own domain name: a lot of directories insist on a root domain in order to get a listing.

I wouldn't personally approve the Games Online 4 Free, and here's why: there are an awful lot of copycat games websites. The scripts are easy to come by, and a lot of them are near-duplicates of each other. I would prefer to link to the original source of the games, ie whoever made them in the first place, rather than hundreds of similar websites displaying the same sets of free games. If you have something original and exclusive, you'll get a better approval rate.

It's hard to generalise, but a lot of them are very bad because they don't enough attention to choosing the appropriate category and writing a good website description. A lot of them don't understand the concept of "no promotional language", for instance, and some will just copy and paste a chunk of text from your homepage. Although we've been giving feedback on your websites, I actually doubt that they are what have been giving you the problem with rejections. It's more likely to be the result of badly thought-out submissions.
