I was wondering if anyone has paid to be included in the yahoo directory and if so have you had any benefits from it. It is something I was thinking about and whether it is worth the cost of the listing.
If it's worth getting higher ranking in Yahoo directory, I will also want to do it. Can someone share their experience?
Asked the same question myself: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=259720 and another similar thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=287305 and another similar thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=297252
I paid but dont think it was the best way to spend $300. If you have a limited advertising budget a well crafted press release might be better.
Possibly worth it for folks that have more than a $300 budget and want a quick start in? (That's a question, I'm asking, not an answer...)
Sometimes it's not always according to the results you get. If you're looking to just to reap SEO benefits from getting listed for $300, then don't expect to get that money back anytime soon. Being listed in the Yahoo directory adds overall trust to your website. If THAT is important to you (which it should, if you're a legitimate webmaster), then pay the $300 and see it as an investment. It will also increase the value of your website.
The whole point is because Yahoo is considered a trusted site and recomended by Google. See Google's Webmaster Help Center . Basically, it helps dig your site out of the sandbox, or prevent it, and gives you an edge because most fraud/spam/mfa sites wont pay $300 for a listing.
Well, if you had to select two places in the world for your website to be in, its Yahoo and DMOZ. Dmoz is almost imposible to get in, while Yahoo 300$/year seems to be only way around it. And yep, the trustrank from human reviewed directories are important. I know this is yahoo thread, but anyway, if we look at latest Google news, that matt cutts wants the paid directories/links to be devalued, the Yahoo/Dmoz could be the gold in this disaster time. Of course, yahoo redirects isn't helping much with PageRank, but the so called 'trust rank' could be flowing by leaps and bounds
Many people paid for it if their traffic come from Yahoo. being added in Yahoo Dir will help you in Yahoo SERPs. so if you really rely on Yahoo it's worth it. People do pay for it though.
