"include" links v/s "handcoded links

    Hi,

    I did search, but could not find this topic addressed, so apologies if this has already been discussed.

    Is there any difference from the SEO point of view if a link is handcoded into an html file, v/s it being accessed using :

    <!--#include virtual="footer.html"-->

    In other words, If I am buying a link for SE benefit (PR, anchor text), should I care if the seller uses includes?

    Probably too much of a newbie question :confused:

    Thanks
    Ajeet

    Search engines and browsers can't tell the difference between a html file generated with includes and one generated without includes.... They both send back the identical code. Therefore it makes no difference at all.

    That's correct. It doesn't matter at all, as long as the link out is a standard link that spiders can follow.
