hello there, do you think outbound links are affecting a website position in the rankings? i am not talking about outbound links to spammy, low trust sites, but links to websites like ezinearticles, wikipedia, etc. any of you had experience with this scenario? cheers!
All links play a role in benefiting a particular web site. Inbound links, those pointing to a site, affect ranking differently than those that leave it. Their impact on a site’s performance is related to the quality of the source providing the link; the more “reputable†and “popular†the source, in the eyes of search engines, the greater their role in boosting the performance of the recipient site. The importance of outbound links comes into play via their placement on the site. This placement is one of the items we factor in when we optimize our Promotion client’s websites.
Inbound link also know as external link that comes towards your website, outbound link refer to links goes other site from u r site. inbound links help to rank website, outbound help for this site ezinearticles, wikipedia, because these sites update on regular basis.
Only excessive and unrelated link can harm your ranking.. but linking to good sites where it seen necassary is not bad, any way, if only giving reference to those sites( like Wikipedia) then you can also make link nofollow.
