I have discovered a site that links to me over 100K times. All kinds of links to my site appear in the source code of their pages. For example, their home page source code is here: view-source:http://dissertation-vita-page.xyz/ And I see my site - www.malleeblue.com - linking out from that page 44 times - though it does not show on the home page itself - only their source code. Questions: Why would they do this? What benefit do they get? Should I disavow these inbound links - are they harmful to me site? Thanks, David
Sounds like some sort of script is writing their source code. It's just a technical error that they are not fixing.
If those links are showing up in GWT - then you should disavow them. Irrelevant site links are fine, spam links are different.
Google has a disavow tool. It may need to be used as links from bad websites can massively hurt SEO with Google. However, with other search engines, it's not a concern.
Irrelevant backlinks are definitely going to harm your rankings in the coming months and take steps to disavow these backlinks to save the website from getting lowered in ranking because of these kind of backlinks.
