Just wondering how other directory owners handle submissions that are obviously outside the niche of the site or the category they are submitted to. Do you just delete the submission? Do you email them and tell them their site is denied? Does your email give any explanation of the denial? I've been deleting the rediculous ones. The one that was on the marginal side I emailed a personal note. Just wondering what everyone else does.
I edit the submission, if there is an appropriate category available and site is good. I delete , if it is outside the niche / guidelines. e- mailing can waste a lot of time. It is the submitter's responsibility to make a proper category choice and read the guidelines.
If it falls under all the other Submission Guidelines, then I'll simply move it to its proper category. If it fails to meet any of the Submission Guidelines, then it's simply rejected.
would 2nd what sachin just said. Would add that in most cases, submitters who have not followed the guidelines are spammers and you can well guess what sending an email to such a person can result in.
My directory is setup to automatically send an email out to a submitter if it's accepted or rejected. However, all emails are the same...as far as accept/decline. Therefore I relist my few requirements so that they know they are welcome to submit again. There is no personal email sent out to anyone.
i'm strict. just delete it without notice. more than 90% people dont read the rules i dont wanna make my site spamming
Inappropriate free submissions are generally deleted without notice, paid submissions get a notification.
