its kind of like a status symbol in most cases. however for sites that sell ads, its very important; because people seem to check PR before they buy links.
For my site no.... Where I want backlinks to come from yes... Otherwise.. Look at the 1 day old thread and how many people still believe in PR from their own websites.... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2068181 Crazy as hell if you ask me...
Page rank is a measure of a page's reputation - it is calculated from the incoming links to that page. But ranking for any given search will also be based on its perceived relevance to the particular search term. If two pages have equal relevance, the one with higher page rank will tend to rank higher. However, Google takes account of so many factors in determining relevance that I doubt whether any two pages are ever equal... That said, in my experience, sites with low page rank are more at the mercy of changes to Google's algorithm. They may be up near the top one week, and down in the doldrums the next. Sites with high page rank tend to sustain their rankings better over time.
Not really. It's something that should come naturally in a longer period of time. In the mean time you can make serious cash already with a 0-1 pagerank easily. As others mentioned, if you sell traffic or backlinks then of course it counts but as a regular affiliate site it doesn't matter much to the consumers.
yes, it reflect how google sees you, since you do not have any other factor to test a site/page, you have to think PageRank is important
PageRank is only one factor that Google considers when ranking your website and tagging it with authority, relevance or how important it might be to people searching on the Search Engine. With that being said... Leave PageRank off to the side... Do other things, and the PageRank comes naturally and automatically.
As many members sad that if you want to sell ads on your website then the PR it's very important to those who would like to buy add space on your site. It depends on what you want to do with your site.
No. Only search engine results which equals traffic interests me. I don't sell links or do any of that so PR doesn't mean much to me. But it is nice to have high PR just for the sake of things. Think of it only as a novelty.
Guess it is, based from this discussion. But Google might have seem to forget all about it for a while because they have not updated for months.
I still go on high traffic than page rank. Its no use if you have high page rank but the traffic coming in to your website is low so it does not equal to your page rank. It is much better Higher Page Rank and Higher Traffic that would be perfect.
It does matter in terms of getting do follow backlinks from high page rank site, otherwise i don't think it matters much.
