Does it matter if I use hypen(-) or underscore(_) in naming my pages? This is a question that I though I had settled already (i.e. that it doesnt matter) but I read a posting on another forum (http://www.v7n.com/forums/seo-forum/7773-do-yourself-seo.html) that has thrown me. Hyphen, underscore or either?
an underscore is generally ignored by a search engine, neither does anyone searching uses underscore (they prefer only hyphens) unless and until webmasters (like us) who will search for specific terms. Always use hyphens..
I also use hyphens. Also, its a bit difficult to put an underscore while youre typing. So most people prefer using hyphens. Plus, URLs with hyphens are more readable than URLs with underscores.
Hey Everybody - u guys gave me a new NEWS . I only used underscores - well im gonna track this thread to the last - let me study this well. Thanks for this topic MisterMix
Google does not see the underscore as a word seperator. http://mattcutts.com/blog/dashes-vs-underscores/
